The client, a leading UK signage designer, manufacturer, and installer, has worked with many recognisable brands, restaurants, and venues up and down the UK to assist them with signage for new, existing, and renovated sites.

They initially contacted GCL Logistics for assistance with an upcoming project via a recommendation from a previous client.

The Challenge

The client had been contracted to design, build, and maintain two new LED scoreboards as part of the renovation of Lord’s Cricket ground.

The bespoke LED solution needed to be shipped directly from the supplier in China to the cricket ground in London.

The delivery needed to be made on a specific day that the ground was not in use.

In addition, a further complication arose due to the site location not being able to take deliveries via an articulated lorry, so an alternative method was required.

Initially, GCL Logistics undertook an appraisal of the project to understand what would be required.

Using this appraisal, clear deadlines were established in order to meet the specific delivery date and site restrictions.

While the goods were being prepared, GCL worked closely with their overseas partner office in Shenzhen, China, to arrange a dedicated collection slot, as well as a fixed departure date with the cargo carrier to ensure the LED solution left the factory in China on time.

To ensure the transport and delivery went smoothly once the cargo had arrived in the UK, GCL undertook direct communication with the delivery site manager at Lord’s.

Another timed slot was then booked with a specialist vehicle capable of delivering the cargo under the site’s restrictions. To help facilitate an efficient delivery, GCL also attended the site on the designated day.
